Lycopene 🍅 – The Tomato Hero for Eyes, Heart & More!
So, why am I taking over 100 supplements a day and blogging about them one by one? 🤓
Because I’m on a mission: I want to see so clearly that I can finally ditch my glasses. Yep, that’s the dream—and every capsule counts! 👁️✨
Today’s superstar: Lycopene – the red pigment that makes tomatoes red and your cells very happy. 🍅❤️
Lycopene is one of the strongest natural antioxidants out there. It protects your cells from oxidative stress (a.k.a. cell aging), and it's especially helpful for:
🔹 Eye health 👀 – may reduce risk of macular degeneration
🔹 Heart health ❤️ – helps lower LDL cholesterol
🔹 Blood vessels 🩸 – supports flexibility and blood flow
🔹 Skin 🧴 – works like sunscreen from the inside (!)
And guess what? Lycopene is fat-soluble, so if you just eat a dry tomato, it won’t do much. I always take my Lycopene with a fatty meal during my OMAD (One Meal A Day) – usually with olive oil, cheese, or avocado. 🧀🥑💪
Oh, and it’s way more bioavailable in cooked or fermented tomatoes – so ketchup counts (kind of 😜).
👉 I use a high-quality tomato extract supplement – no guesswork, just Lycopene power in a capsule.
I currently have two Lycopene supplements in rotation: one with 50 mg pure tomato extract, and another with 100 mg Lycopene combined with organic Reishi mushroom. Right now, I’m taking the 100 mg version with my OMAD meal—since it gives me a higher dose for stronger antioxidant effects, plus a bonus immune boost from the Reishi.
🧠 How much Lycopene per day is recommended?
Most studies on Lycopene show benefits in a daily range of 10 mg to 30 mg, but doses up to 75–100 mg per day have also been used safely—especially in supplements targeting prostate or heart health. There’s no official upper limit, but more isn’t always better unless your body can absorb and use it efficiently.
Key point: Lycopene is fat-soluble, so it's most effective with a fatty meal, which you're already doing via OMAD. That’s perfect for maximizing absorption.
⚠️ Disclaimer: Lycopene supplements are generally considered safe for most people when taken in recommended amounts. However, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications, especially for blood pressure or blood thinning, consult your doctor before starting high-dose Lycopene.
Remember: more isn’t always better—especially when it comes to concentrated extracts. If you have a question, just feel free to ask me in my blog of walter-Mall.com
